just select the link and rotate it around the y axis hold shift an it will snap at every 45 degrees if using the UM or type in in the y rotate box on properties tab
looking at ur pics I think that should sort the prob out

May I jump in here, Pic 1 looks right but I'd try decreasing the overall size of the link (or increase the size of the circle) and see what happens.

What's happening there SSafam is your Duplicate is working for you (that does not happen for me for some reason), try undoing it back to where you have 1 link and the circle, then make the link smaller and try again.
I will have a look at this again, its too much hit or miss, there must be a way to get the size the link so you get the right result first time.
Edit - Found a quickish way of doing it, in the properties tab you have a scale option, knock that figure down by half, see what you get and either increase the number or drop it down. Then tweak it till you are happy with it

Have you tried using the scale option in the properties tab.
I find using a duplicate useful, especially when you want to work on level 0 smoothing and having a duplicate with smoothing added to it.

try this way if your still stuck make sure clone is on ratio is off type the numbers in the box for scaling the slider is a bit ticklish once you get close to the right size validate to to the first link (all the new ones will be grouped) select the 2 faces shown then adjust as needed then select the last face and adjust hopefully all done now Attachments:

What's next - I think it will have to be the watch case next - What do you fancy, a circle or a square one ?
It will be a bit harder, but, if you want to search the net for one you like send me a link and I'll try to do a walk through on making it.

I think I'll have to simplify this quite a bit if you really want this style, it is nice though The text (N.S.E.W) and the bits beneath the glass would be easier to do as an image. It can be modeled, entirely up to you. Attachments:

It can be modeled, entirely up to you. I want an image for that. I think what you've modeled so far is GREAT enough and the rest should be texturing.
