I always worry that my pieces are too poly heavy when I start getting to 20K. What's an acceptable number? What's too much? Where is the line where you are eliminating low end users because you've got so many polys their machine loads it, but can't render?

I'm really not sure about poly counts what I would do is open up a similar item in hex and look at the amount of poly's they have Hugs Trixe

I've looked at professional stuff and a top can sometimes but up to 40,000 ALONE. There is a trick of going very high and then doing something at the end to get rid of them while keeping your same look.
Let me find it....

Here is the link: www.blip.tv/file/2115022Also, in the thread by Rebecca (it was in the Freezipository) for the baby onesie by Boobear(sp). She mentioned the trick. Don't know if she was referring to the same method.

And, that's what I'm talking about - 46,000 polygons in a SHIRT? OW! None of my stuff comes close to that. In fact, when I did the button up shirt for the teens, and went to 20K polygons, I about had a fit! My current project with a pair of jeans for M4, with pocket, button, fly and side seam details is less than 20K.

Well, I can't read it because my internet is so slow, I can't do anything. Is anyone else having internet problems or is it my ISP? I mean.........pages take forever to load and usually time out. I can't get into the Daz forums at all.

Most pages simply timed out - couldn't load anything.
