OK, so I have this pair of jogging pants I made for M4....and I want to make the waistband look like elastic, with the gathering. What's the best way to do that? Suggestions? Attachments:

Thank you, Ez. You've shown me something new that I didn't know how to do. Now, if I can just do it. You make it look so simple.

Well, here's my result. I ended up using the 1 over to create the gathers. The displacement just required too many polys to be able to load the jogging pants after I was done. By the time I got it right, the pants had over 40K polys with the displacement. LOL. I think it looks good. Attachments:

my 2 cents (if yer not a yank change it to ur money lol )
forget doin it in geometry end up with way too many polys
follow EZ to 2nd level of tess (a few more polys in that area helps the displacement)
make a displacement map for the wrinkly bit at the top dont forget in poser BLACK is low in DAZ its mid grey (128,128,128)
If the waistband is tightfitting avoid low dis cos u might get poke thro'
can do u a pic if u like

Only adding the 2 Edge Arounds for the indented seam added any polygons at all, and those were minimal. Besides, if you are submitting clothing to Daz, they want this stuff modeled in, not "drawn" in.

nice pans, hexagon is well known not to handle large polygon counts and to make wrinkle and folds may require lots of polygons, thats why i said remove the wastband off the pants and do it separate so the pants dont get to many polygons. i dont do third party trouble shooting, what i mean by this if i show you in hexagon and it doesn't work in your other DAZ app i have no clue on how to fixs it, so its up to you from there

It's just user error when I get too many polygons - trying to get it "perfect" and I just lay on the subdivision tool a bit too hard. I'll learn. Eventually.
