My 14 yr. old daughter is an aspiring photographer, hoping to go to college for a degree in photography. At any rate, to encourage her, we bought a DSLR camera for her a year ago and we take short trips to allow her to expand her skills with the camera. Our latest trip was to Cherokee, NC in the Great Smoky Mountains. We stayed on the Cherokee Indian reservation and drove the BlueRidge Parkway as well as through Newfound Gap to Gatlinburg, TN. What an amazing sight - so much that you are actually inundated with too much to take in. It was an amazing trip. Here's just one of her pictures. Attachments:

WOW simply BREATH-TAKING. Blueridge = Serenity. I've never been but it's on my list of places I must see before I leave here!

WOW simply BREATH-TAKING. Blueridge = Serenity. I've never been but it's on my list of places I must see before I leave here! It is incredibly serene. But, if there is a single place where what we are doing to our planet is more visible, I can't imagine where it might be. 40 years ago, from Clingman's Dome (the highest point in the Smokies, 1 mile up) you could see for 100 miles in all directions. Today, you can only see 20 miles - because the other 80 miles are covered up in pollution. That haze in the photos? Pollution.

We can just imagine what'll be like in the next 40 yrs.
