I had Studio 3 before on a laptop with XP, but then I decided to go faster and I got me a larger PC with Windows 7 (64-bit) The installation of Studio 4 Adv. succeeded perfect. No problems at all. I would recommend to first clean every former version of the program. Check your map program files. And download a new copy from DAZ. I hope it helps you, but I'm not an expert.

Yep, I got rid of everything concerning Daz Studio and even redownloaded twice thinking maybe I had a bad installer..I posted in two threads over at Daz, and have been ignored..then contacted support, and nothing has been answered..my request is being 'processed'..which means they aren't in a hurry to answer... Oh well, if I can't get it installed, I can't..I'll just use what I have. Oh and yes I have the 32 not 64 Thanks all

Thanks Heddheld for your visit. Most of my pictures are made spontaneous and in my own garden. I'm not the kind of guy that waits for hours in a small shelter to shoot that one picture of his life. I like to make little stories of ordinary moments and things. Some text and some pics will do for me. ;D

Welp, after much fiddling around, I finally decided that a new install of SP2 would do the trick..since I kept seeing that kernel32.dll error, I knew something was corrupted somewhere. I have had SP1 on my machine since the beginning of time and never had any problems with programs running at all..so I figured..don't fix it if it ain't broke... Well...something broke apparently, so I had to finally break down and get at 'least' SP2 for my Win XP... After much ado..I have finally gotten DS4P to install and all is working well YAY!

Before you spend a lot of time to help me, I already found a way to achieve my goal. It is a little early to cry out that I know everything about it. But in a week or so I hope to show you here my progress.
I'm still learning and working on it.

Ooo then I might be asking YOU Frits LOL!
@hed, yup..I know it was a long time coming, but Im of the mind that if it works, there ain't no reason to fix it LOL! Everything has been working fine on my machine for years until now..but I got it fixed except for some slowness..which is prolly my processor but Im not upgrading that yet..no moola heh heh..so I'll deal with slow on the desktop.
I loaded Genesis, and got the female loaded..dont know how to grow anything on her tho so she's a bit flat chested besides what she gets with that female slider.....works a bit like Makehuman no?

Although I was very happy to be able to clothe my V4 and let those clothes move with the model by the transfer utility, there is found a new problem. When I convert my model to Weight mapping (necessary), all other objects I like fit to the model looses their beautiful extra morphs. So, my clothes moves with the model, but she can have only standard hair fit to her head. No more variable hairlenght or wind or sweeping bangs. I don't like this rubbish at all. Is there a better program to clothe your model other than DAZ Studio 4?

Well, there is Marvelous Designer like Ez posted about..but like Hed said, it isn't cheap. $199.00 USD for the 'basic' version..which only allows you to redistribute free models..you can't sell them..and for $500.00 more you can be allowed to sell your models...but the program is still the basic version.
I use Hexagon to model clothing, and then use Poser 7 to pose my character and simulate the clothing on them.
Blender is free, and it does have a cloth simulation function, altho Im no where close to figuring that one out yet..Blender has a fairly sharp learning curve..at least for me.
Are you saying that the hair doesn't move with your character Frits? There are some free hairs out there that do have 'bones' so you can shape it how you like for the most part.

Jsm, my problem is not to create the clothes, it is to fit them to my V4 model. When I do that using the "Transfer Utility" in Studio 4A, I have to convert the model to a Weight map. So far so good, the clothes obj gets the bones and morphs from the model and the clothes follow the model in any pose. Fine.
But everything else you fit to that weight map model looses his own bones and morphs and will be overwritten by the ones of the model. Now you end up with hair that fit to the head, oh yes, but it is no longer ajustable like it was original as designed by its creater. And that is what happens to all your stuff you like to fit to it.
In my old situation, using Studio 4A, I had ajustable hair, shoes and props and even some clothes, but most of the clothes did not follow the bones of the model in a different pose. I tried several procedures to solve this problem, but so far nothing works properly.
If I could rigging my clothes manualy I think I could do the trick, but that is one bridge too far for me now. I simply don't have the skills.

as Jsm said theres only poser an Ds that do this sorta stuff this way blender is an awesome proggy, but the learning curve is made worse by the sheer amount of stuff it can do (once your in blender you never have to leave it to do this or that lol, it does everything but make your coffee) couldnt see why you was using the v4wm but guessing thats for the transfer utility? then u say clothes didnt follow the doll in your old DS ? was that clothing you made?? now I haven't used the v4 wm but I think it will be the same as the old v4 AFTER you have made cloth then u need to add morphs to follow the dolls morphs, this can be done "by hand" but there is a couple of proggys you can get to add them automaticly(I bought morphing clothes and would recomend it) and dont forget I only used poser back then I have to do the "bump an grind" for my doc later today an dunno how well I'll be after lol but will have a go at a tut using DS figure setup tools and adding morphs via DS ps have a look at blender even if you only use it now an then its a great tool to have ;D

The one part clothes, made in Marveles Design, I try to split up in Hexagon and export it as OBJ file, has three different colored zones with the correct names of the model. When imported in Studio 4, it still has thee colors, but it is just one part. So after taking a very, very, very, deep breath, I tried to tackle my problems as below. I fit my clothes (coming from MD/Hexagon/Studio4) to my V4 model by using the Tranfer Utility in Studio. That procedure runs fine with the exception of losing the controls in the hair and other things you "fit" to V4. To avoid that, I no longer "fit" the hair to V4 (weight mapped), but I place the hair on the zeroed figure and change the "parent" from None to V4's head. Now my V4 has good fitting clothes, which conform her poses and I still has all the extra morphs that comes with the hair and be able to correct her hair in any shape I wanted. I wonder when the next problem turns up.

Make sure when in Hex that you assign 'domains' to each group color.....there is a section for 'materials' but you need to use the 'domains' instead. That way it will still be one object, but will allow you to texture in sections like it was many objects Im not familiar with weight mapping yet...but I was going to recommend the parenting for the hair...didn't know if once a figure was weight mapped it would be able to have that option or not..but guess you got it to work so that answered a question for me as well.. I LOVE Blender {thanks Hed}....and I can't wait to get to know it a bit better like I do Hex...very cool program
