Can someone direct me to tutorials on the difference between texture files in Poser and D|S?
I can't get my bump or displacement map to load in Poser 7 to save my life!
And, how the h*ll does one turn off PLASTIC? I need this texture to be MAT.
Anyone?

If you don't mind, can you answer the questions one by one: 1. Do I need to create separate BUMP & DISPLACEMENT maps for Poser and D|S? In other words, a displacement map that works in D|S will not work in Poser 7? 2. I know how to change the Plastic/Skin/MAT settings in D|S. How do I do the same thing in Poser 7? 3. If I'm using a proper bump/displacement map in Poser, there are 2 dials......what do they mean? How do those dials effect the bump/displacement? Thanks for your help. Please try to understand that I am an absolute newbie to Poser. I purchased and installed it on Saturday, so I am unbelievably LOST. I've been using D|S for years. Not Poser.

kk I dunno wot u know (or dont lol ) so between us we'll get there I use poser more then daz and dont have daz on this comp at the mo
first off bump and displacement are dif things (hoping u knew that lol IF not yell)
poser has one dial for bump one for displacement fairly sure thats the same in daz too really not a lot of need to use both an deffo not both with same map that would be overkill
useing a daz map in poser will work if you adjust the mid grey to black easy to do in a paint prog or can do it in poser by using a subtract node to darken the grey also will need the "numbers" changing think daz works on % poser has its own units good place to start in poser is .1 adjust as u need you CAN use neg numbers if u want to dig in instead of push out using a poser map in daz will work if u change the black to mid grey in a paint program OR adjust the settings (no best guess cos its been a yr or so since I went in daz ) the plastic look ?? well poser dont have the lighting setting that daz has the ones to control that is mainly specularity! the default is 1 good for car paint ;-) not skin and highlight size fogot the default but bigger numbers are bigger highlights also has a colour value colour depends on what colour the item is eg for skin a lighter then normal skin tone is good for a black dress then a mid to dark grey is ok for black car paint then its gotta be white ;-) hope u see how thats going but nowt to stop u using a bright red on a blue dress if u want to!! might look good (sorta 2 tone material but if it looks aweful dont blame me )
think I covered all ur points if not me around for a while will be watching for a yell ok
if your doing stuff to sell then 2 sets of mats are good, 1 for poser 1 for daz some peeps cant (or wont ) mess with settings
just checked an ur a boss here so if u can grab my email (its my messy addy too) I'll be on messy for a bit cos my G/F is on ;-) be happy to help where / when I can

I'm a DAZ person too. I only have an older version of Poser that I very rarely use, so I don't think I'll be any help on this. Sorry. For bump maps, the Mat Pose Editor is helpful - it can add one in. Unfortunately, Mat Pose Editor doesn't include an option for displacement maps. For a more "mat" look, try tinkering with the "highlight size" setting, and / or set the highlight / specular color to black. Hope that helps, at least a little.
